Transparent body panels....

Has it been done before? On a funny car perhaps? Are they fully or just partially transparent? What are they made of? Got pics?

Thanks.

Re: Transparent body panels....

I've seen (fully transparent) clear bonnets at the Ricer Salons but that's all. With the exception of that and possibly a clear boot so all your homies can see your fil-sik-moit subs, amps, capacitors and neons, I don't see why anyone would bother.

Dunno what it would do for safety either, as it would have different crash characteristics, but the again with clear panels it would probably only be a trailer mounted show-off, dyno/decibel queen and never set tyres on the road.

Re: Transparent body panels....

Damn, i thought that you had pics.
I have seen a few see through bonnets.. I think they look good. Other body panels would be rather boring though, i cant see too much fun looking at an innerguard... and they'd be a bitch to keep clean.

Re: Transparent body panels....

Plenty of cars out there have plastic front guards and other panels, so clear wont make a difference in a crash

Im pretty sure Honda made an S2000 with clear panels for a car show a little while ago

Re: Transparent body panels....

I just thought it'd be interesting to see the hidden wires, cables etc etc. You know like a clear cover on a mobile or something.
