I'm having trouble sourcing a decent jack after the last one sheared itself and took out parts of a car that would make you cry.

It seems I can only find the Compac brand stuff at $1000+ or the cheap nasty Chinese made stuff (the stuff that caused $1000+ damage).

Looking for a good quality jack that can hopefully fit under a Pursuit and lift it high enough first go. I would have thought a budget of around $400 to $500 would get something reasonable. So, who in Sydney can point me to a place that has a range in stock etc? (Prefer Mascot reachable area - i.e. St Marys etc and similar is a no go).

They are all over the country so maybe there is one closer to you.

just do a search on hydraulic in the white pages & ring the people in your area as most on the hydraulic places that i know of have jack but they dont advertise them

I found a good one at Repco of all places. It's an Omega Magic Lift which is 100mm so it fits under a BA/AU without any trouble and lifts 508mm. It's strong as hell too (weighs 40kg)! Around $270-$300. I think it's a G6100S...
