ok im looking at buying a 1980 rs2000 turbo. All is good with the car but I obviously need to ghet insured for it. Im 20 and have had a a rating 6 from march last year (i didn't claim anything so im not sure, does my rating go up?).
Now the hitch is the turbo, im with aami with my falcon but they dont want a bar of me with the escort.
All I want is third party with fire and theft.
Ive tried just car insurance and shannons.
Does anyone know of any other companies worth trying?
And if there is any online qoute forms that would be good. I really want this car but if i cant te insurance then Im in a bit of a pickle.

thanks eb...I tried to do an online qoute with NRMA and they said they dont insure cars outside of NSW, ACT and QLD. Thats odd.

cause your rating 6 you have no chance.
if just cars and shannons won't touch you no one will give you a fair go for cost.
Try a brocker they may be able to work something out.
I've struggled with insurance but now that I'm a rating 2 it's getting fair now.
As soon as I'm rating one I'll be laughing and thats when I bolt on my turbo!

Dude, try Just Cars..
I was quoted $279 per year for TPP when I was 19 for a 1979 RS2000 with Turbo, EFI, wolf 2d computer, 5 speed 'box and many other go-faster goodies....
yeah but marek you were rating 1 or 2 when you applyed.
At a rating 6 I'd be falling off my chair to see a quote of less than a 1000 if they will even do it at all!

Man I would be wrapped it i could get anything near that. I just got a qoute back from just cars...$800!!! for third party is a joke!
I might have ticked the wrong box though...i ticked the box marked "engine not designed for car". I was a bit unsure about that one so I ticked it. But i thought about it again and i shoudln't of because I already ticked the turbocharged box...So I did it again, but I haven't got that quote back yet...
shannons are taking their sweet time as well....its been like nearly two days.

Shannons is pretty useless if you don't have a car that's worth something. I don't know all the details but my dad (who used to work for them) told me it's not worth it unless it's a real classic.
But I'll vouch for the total incompetency of the insurance department.
I probably shouldn't be saying that, I'm working for them soon.....
