I just had a thought. In Australia there are some millions of Asian background people living here (maybe 15%). After a long look at who drives toyotas, especially, camrys, corollas, and even more especially echos, I have found that Asian people sure have more than their share (maybe 50%), meaning, Ford, Holden and others dont have their fair share of Asian people to have as customers. Maybe 3% each at a guess?
If you think about where Asian people often live, they live in the cities, therfore small cars are the go, and they choose toyota. Given this, how could Ford ever sell more Fiestas than Toyota does Echos, or Focus to Corollas?
If this is going to continue on as a trend that I see, ford will never outsell toyota in small cars :-(

The problem with Toyota is that they have so many different models to choose from plus all the commercial vehicles thats why they are number 1 when it comes to sales figures.
Cheers John

If you ask nearly anyone "what do you think is the most reliable vehicle ?" The answer more than likely will be Toyota.
They have a great range of cars, utes, 4wd's, vans etc... The only thing they dont sell here is large rwd V8 powered sedans or utes, a pity really, because they would probably be a good thing

That might change if they wanna get into the V8supercars scene. They may be pressured to start producing rwd sedan/ute v8s. They can always use the 1UZ-FE 4.0L QuadCam V8 for starters... one of them in a light bodied sedan would be a nice little package to start with.
Funnily enough my dealer said I'm the first asian he has seen drive a XR8 ute. hehehe

I read in The Herald Sun cars guide a couple of years ago that XR6/XR8 utes were favoured by homosexual men, don't know how true it was though ?
Lots of old people love their Camry's an Corolla's due to the fact that they have been so realible over the years and quite economical to run.
Take a look at the number of Landcruisers an Hi-Lux's on the road compared to other brands in their class, this is almost soley because of the excellent reputation they have of never causing grief to the owners. Take a look at the resale on toyota 4wd's compared to other brands for another reason to buy one.
They might not make exciting cars but they make good, realiable cars and to alot of people this is what matters.
My Ford dealer drives a 80 series cruiser!
