URGENT: Buying an unregistered car - how do you confirm who owns it etc?

Hey all,

Just wondering how you check who owns an unregistered car, and also if there is any money owing on it?

Thanks heaps,

revs check will tell you if its stolen or not, or money owing, you will need chassis and engine number.

I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think

ok so its the same for a registered car in that regard.

but what if it is not the original motor?

(ie motor in this car was swapped) will revs still work on the chassis number only?

revs will confirm if chassis and engine number belong together (I believe) and are not stolen, or money owed.
