Just been reading about the new 2003 Mercury Merauder. Good to see Ford are the first to bring back rear drive sedans for the States. I always remember those typical US cop chases with those big GM or Ford sedans.

Power is pretty good comming from the 4.6L Mustang V8, Specs say it makes 305Hp or 227kw.

I think it looks quite nice as well.

It's okay on black but a little 70's pimp car don't you think??

Definitely needs more power too!! Has less than the soon to be announced I6 turbo in the BA (240kw will be announced for that one soon!!)

And why stop at the Lightning Motor?? How about the supercharged 5.4 in the GT40?? That was 360+kw wasn't it??

Yes, it's based on Mercury Marquis or whatever which is a Crown Victoria. Boat on land........

Ford has always sold a RWD sedan, I belive the crown Vic never went out of production. Mainly because they were the only choice for police (~50% of all sales). Then you have the lincons.. But I guess its not the same..

Definately a bit of a boat.. half a foot wider than a AU falcon? big overhangs.. live axel and 70's suspension geometry combined with a fairly pokey engine.. Should do okay in the states... not for here or for export tho, falcon would destroy it.
