Apparently BMW have stopped producing the m5 with a v8 (approx 290kw)

They will be shifting to a V10 powerplant which will produce approx 400 kw backed by a sequential 7 speed tranny capable of 0- 200 in under 13 seconds

Pricing is around the $200,000 mark

So place your orders quick lol

A new benchmark set for the next GTHO....
1. Needs at least ten cylinders.
2. DOESNT need a 7spd tranny though
3. Needs at least 400kw
4. Doesnt need to be stripped down, the M5 probably has 2 widescreen TVs with an 800w sound system, rain-sensing wipers and everything else... so chuck everything in, with a stripped version as an option for the minority who would opt for it.

Well with Ford "following" BMW in terms of vehicle design, creative process etc. (Territory springs to mind...have heard they looked very closely at the X5) maybe the direction BMW are taking with the M5 may be "monitored" by Ford very closely.....or maybe I am just reading too much into things.

They stopped production 3 months before the new body was released about 6 months ago.

The "V10" has been spotted in testing, and, most likely is a v10 considering the v8 has been shelved and the stiff competition from AMG E55.

Well in that case, they can make it a V10, and you can just unplug 2 of the spark plugs and you have your V8...then we'll both be happy :-)

According to the news article I read last week it will have 368kw (500HP). And the 5.0 M5 was 298kw.
