Been wondering this for a while now what engines do the Ford v8 supercars use. I thought they would have to run the new 5.4L Boss, but after reading a few things in mags and else where i seem to think they still run the old 5.oL. If they still run the 5.oL does anyone know why, i thought it had to be a production based engine and seeing as the 5.oL isn't used in any ford anymore how can they still use it.

Because V8 Supercars in no way resemble the real Fords or Holdens on the road - all the cars share similar parts - i find it boring except for Bathurst. I prefer watching production car racing

What's that?..... Did I hear you say TQE power?
From memory motors are sourced from the us. They are 5.0l in capacity and are either a ford or gm motorsport block especially made for racing. I think they are the same motors used in the nascar series.
The holden utes used the LS1 from the start (with an inlet restricor?). Fords where still running the windsor when they started using the BA bodywork. Probably to save them having to work out (engine) parity again. Could have gone to Boss since then though...?
