VIC: Opposition Transport Minister calls for inquiry into speed camera accuracy
Saw this on the Chan9 news earlier tonight. (Sorry cant find an online link)
Its about bloody time the opposition started blasting them about this.
The suggestion was that the in-car radar units were out by a possible 3kmh. Now considering that the speed tolerance has been dropped to 3kmh it is more than likely that not all "speed crims" are truly guilty.
It was very amusing seeing that wart Police Minister Andre Haermeyer turning red with fury at the suggestion his speed cameras might be out of whack (supported by previous examples).
He really was cracking it, branding the opposition transport minister's (is it Terry Mulder?) suggestion as disgraceful and accusing the opposition of undermining the public's faith in the Government's "Road Safety" program hahahaha! Youve already done that for them Andre.
He also went on to say something about how the opposition was trying to "let off dangerous, irresponsible, hoons who kill families" (quote unquote). Lol, what a mad line.
SO remember all you people that have recieved fines for speeding less than 10kmh over.
YOURE ALL DANGEROUS, FAMILY-KILLING HOONS!!!

Wasn't that deadwood transport minister Peter Bachelor caught speeding on Kew boulevard in a newly established 50 zone last year? Funny how Vicroads saw the error of their ways and changed it back to 60. That baby killing, family murdering imbecile!!!
Cheers, Danny

I still don't understand their logic with 3km/h tolerances. Don't they realise how many cars come/came out of the factory with 5-10% discrepancies in speedo readings? Bring on the next Vic election.

I'm sure they've been told about it and they know about it and choose to ignore it but can someone tell me what their reply is when qeustioned about it. I just can't understand how they can get away with it.

I for one wholeheartly back this minister in his attempts to get an inquiry going into this matter. For too long in Mexico the Govt & Police (not the ground troops, more a policy thing) have been able to get away with brazen robbery.
It's high time that people realise that speed alone is not the sole problem to road safety.

Yes, unfortunately they have the political upper ground with this issue.
Any time someone brings up the government's real agenda with the speed cams Haermeyer and other goons start having fits saying that public safety is being undermined. The media is quick to jump on the bandwagon and the govt goes on with their extortions.
Notice how this issue has gone away real quick? I saw it once on the news and then nothing...
