Wink Victoria Police - Uphold The Right

The Victorian Poohlice's motto is 'Uphold The Right'. To which I reflect:

1. Uphold the right to frisk motorist's wallets
2. Uphold the right to commit crimes provided you don't break the speed limit in that stolen car
3. Uphold the right to conspire with the TAC to lie, distort statistics, and blame everything on speeding
4. Uphold the right to blame speed even though coronial inquiries find roads and drivers are to blame

I'm sure many others here can think up a few more. Let's keep this as a fun thing - a way to vent our frustrations.

Re: Victoria Police - Uphold The Right

Uphold the right to travel at any speed they choose regardless of the limit, but nail the citizen who drifts 3km/h over the limit.

Cheers,

Re: Victoria Police - Uphold The Right

Uphold the right to defect any car, for any reason at any time, regardless of proof. Then make the owner pay to prove it is legal.

Uphold the right to never have to say sorry, we made a mistake, we were in the wrong.

Uphold the right to treat everyone as law breaking criminals if it serves their purpose at the time.

Uphold the right to only actively police the laws that supply the most profit.

I could go on and on............

Cheers,

Uphold the right to break any and all road rules at will.

Uphold the right to park anywhere including disabled parking spots

Uphold the right to act condesending and arrogant to all but their direct superiors

Uphold the right to confiscate drugs than use them themselves (I know of this happening)

Uphold the right to take bribes to ensure illegal betting is not raided (I knew of this happening years ago too)

Uphold the right to give "special" consideration to shops and resteraunts that give them "special" deals

Uphold the right to let fellow officers off if accidently caught breaking road rules

Uphold the right to drive complete crap heaps (as private cars) that are defective and unsafe yet defect citizens cars for the slightest issue

Yes, I am sensitive about these things, it's not funny and it's not clever. I am venting my frustrations. Other than being killed (obviously) I have had to do all these things.

I have no doubt that you have done these things, one of my best friends is a cop and has done many of these things too. I don't envy him and I dont envy you, they are crappy, thankless jobs. However there is a large amount of police out there who bend the laws to suit themselves and do it in such a way that the public see it as one law for us and one law for them.
Police are there to protect and uphold the law but, when they openly flaunt it, the joe public like myself and many others feel that they are just out to make money off us. Police should lead by example, something that is sadly lacking in many, many cases.
I don't blame you for being sensitive about it (and I know it is not all police, probably just a minority) but as ordinary citizens we too are sensitive about the hypocacy of it all.

Cheers,
