i got an email saying that this file jdbgmgr.exe was a virus that couldnt be detected by any antivirus software and i am wondering before i delete anything is it a virus or is it someone trying to play a joke.

heres a copy of the email

"Hey people just thought I'd warn u that ure computer is possibly infected with a virus. This virus was sent to Jason by one of his air head friends and it has infected the whole computer and my address book so follow the instructions and u'll be ok

edit: i actually found a post in here that i made regarding the same subject last year. doh this time i shall remeber the name.

Easy to tell it's a hoax. Look at the date of the jdbgmgr.exe file, it will be a lot older than 14 days. This one has been around for a good couple of years. Friend of mine got suckered with it just a few days ago.

If it were a virus, you'd have to actually run it for it to work. So if you don't run it or any scripts that would run it, you'd be fine.

I think, maybe I'm 5 years behind the times.

it is a Hoax. JDBGMGR.EXE is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. This application is only useful for Java developers.
