VX SS not so fast

My old man just got into a little traffic light hero action with a VXSS. My old man drives a exchaser 5.0 EF auto with pacemakers and 2.5" exhaust.

He said it was a rolling start and they both botted it at the same time and were neck and neck until the VX changed into second (Manual) and dropped back a little. The race ended not long after second gear (about 100km/h) but no one was getting anywhere.

I'm guessing the VX would have started to stretch its legs after 100, but I would have thought it would have kicked the EF.

Anyone else raced a VX?
Maybe the guy was playing around.

VX's are pretty slow I reckon. I raced a VX S V6 manual in my XF manual. I beat it off the line(only just) up to about 30-35kmh. Then he slowly pulled in front of me which by that stage we where doing about 80-90. Then he pulled his back bumper in line with my front bumper at about 110-120 which is when I backed off cause I hate going too fast. So I kept upto a VX S. If it was auto I reckon it would have been more even.

Cheers
Matt

Thats no supprise if its an auto.

5.7l auto's cant even pull away from my fairlane and thats pretty piss poor i must say.

Ps, drove past another chugging blue smoke from exhaust brand new VXSS on the weekend with awefully loud banging noises comming from his bonnet. was an old man not even thrashing it and had to pull up with his hazzards on.

3 of us "bwahahahaha'ed" out the window with the horn going flat out. and yelling out "heap of shit!"

Thats pretty rude, how would you like it if your $45,000 Ford shat itself on the side of the road and you got razzed by a car load of Holden dickheads. Think about it.

By the way, if you think auto LS1's are slugs then you had better think again...I would like to see a stock Falcon 5.0 auto do the quater in 14.3

Well at the moment i can't make a comment about how fast or slow a VX SS goes. Judging from 1/4 times in magazines and in the creek i think there pretty quick. Though no doubt a manual AU1 XR8 185kw will beat an auto GenIII.

Will test drive one soon one of these days to make a proper analysis, watch this space.

Yeah don't pick on old men driving/looking under the bonnet SS's, he is probably having a midlife crisis and the missus won't let him get a new red Morono.

at a track day with the XR Club of vic a couple of months ago at Winton raceway, my old man walked all over a VX SS 6SPD Manual and my old man owns a stock EBII XR8 Auto !, the GENIII's are shit on the track, they have no balls down low and cant recover from corners quick enough !

Road warrior do you drive an LS1?Manual or auto? I guess manual cause the auto sucks!!And in fact it's not the auto it's the engine which doesn't work except at the red line. What's the point of power at red in an auto???????

SS will get 0-400 with a higher terminal speed than the XR and about or a bit faster time, you know why don't you!!!!!because it's pathetic from 0-200 which what you use at a terminal speed of around 100 if you want to keep your license. Admit it you're always trying to catch up to the XR at lights, you may and may not get him. But from 0-200 meter he's always ahead of you.

Homer mate, I raced SS Auto 5.7 ls1 before in the XR8 AU I 185Kw. And about 4-5 times I was next to my brother and racing them off lights. We always beat them and the max we get anyway is 90-110.At that time he's 3 cars behind.

Now comes the second part. The 220KW beats the 185KW XR nice and easy. I just know the car mags are a hell of sh!tters.

Race as many A4 LS1 SS as you want. You'll find the holden 5 litre powerless engines are actually very harder to beat.

And please people don't repeat what the mags say, it's a different story in the streets!

Yeah , I am starting to think that the figures relating to Gen 3's are for dyno queens. You know the summernats dyno specials that dont actually go hard.
