Firstly, I want to apologize in advance for the VY content in the Barra Discussion area. But seeing as the VY is a BA issue, I don't see why not....

Look at this and tell me what you see?

Is it a current Ford Mondeo or the new holden VY???

Is this the Mondeo interior or the VY interior?

The SS rear lights?

Now im not having a go at the VY. Many car manufacturers use styling cues from others. Just wanted to point out the slight resemblance (Rear end & interior) for those that have not seen the Mondeo.

how interesting. The mondeo lights are just bigger really. I wonder if holden thought they might get one of the worlds best selling cars by trying to incorporate the mondeo into VT/VX??

A lot of cars have 4 wheels, 4 doors etc which look the same. How many times can you invent the same thing.

Exactly - could even stretch that to come up with things like:

Yuk - your the new Falcon looks like a Trabant, it's got 4 wheels

Aaargh - saw another Trabantacon(or Falcabant) today with those 4 wheels they copied.

All cars are going to have similarities with other models, the BA is no exception, just because it looks similar to another car doesnt make it bad, if it works it works, and contrary to most i think the VY works fine.

The only thing I see as being similar is the steering wheel, but Holden didn't copy the Mondeo, they were influenced by Opel. So either Opel copied Ford or the other way around, or its just a big fluke..... I would guess its more a fluke than anything.

hehehe.... Yeah I think we have been down this path before. Yes the angular tail lights are a very popular theme at the moment as used by Mercedes, etc. Its a bit like Hi-Fi equipment. Every manufacturer is using silver as the primary colour. Next month it will probably be a different colour again. Car design would have to be the same.

Remember the late 50's? Name me one car that didnt have fins! Its called a trend I believe.

I reckon you could just about link every car to another car through a similar design feature.
