Holden has released a second edition of the SS Wagon.
"Holden found a ready market for a similar model last year but this one is based on the VY Series 11 Commodore introduced last October. It is the most powerful production wagon to wear the Holden badge.
The 5.7 litre Gen 111 V8 is good for 245kw and can be mated to either a six-speed manual shift or an auto box.
To differentiate it from its more mainstream bretheren, the limited edition SS wagon has 5 spoke alloy wheels, 17" rubber, a sports facia, fog lamps, a rear skirt and body colour roof rails and dust deflector.
Paintwork choices are either Phantom Black which gets red interior or Quicksilver (grey) which has black leather trim.
Other SS touches include alloy pedals, sports seats, leather-bound steering wheel. Standard features on the SS wagon, which is to retail for $52,490, includes sports suspension, a limited slip diff, traction control and sports exhaust system."
Ford does not have V8 for either the XT or the Futura wagon. Let alone no Fairmont wagon. Why ? ford said "no demand" Holdens second release of an SS wagon, blows that theory out of the water.
So, come on Ford, how about a V8 wagon ? if Holden can do it, so can Ford.
I dont like the idea of Ford having no fairmont wagon. From what I've heard, in the next falcon there wont be ANY wagon! Something to do with it interfering with the Territory.
Come on Ford, keep the wagon. Im sure that there are people out there that want a falcon wagon without buying a territory. I actually know someone who wanted a BA Fairmont wagon but had to buy AU coz no BA Fairmont wagons.
I see that Ford take one step forwards, and two steps back...
Yep FORD ****ED UP big time with no v8 wagon, and no luxo barge wagon either. I would love nothing more than a ghia or fairmont wagon.
The amount of crap that I have to carry in the ef is only going to get bigger when the family grows. A SS style wagon would be fantastic and maybe add the luxo pack now available on the xr sedans.
I agree, Ford should keep a V8 Wagon in thier line up. I am starting to see a fair few ss wagons around Perth. Even people with a couple of kids who require a wagon for extra room like V8's.
I think the territory will be the ford "falcon derivative" luxo barge, just without the v8. Hopefully, ford will make a turbo territory just for giggles, but thats going off on another tangent entirely.
Even so, Holden isn't here making a calais or berlina wagon, its just an SS - bodykit, wheels and a v8. Same wavelength as a touring Camry wagon.
