No surprise on the winner just a little closer than I thought it would be.

The only worry on the six was the fuel consumption!

Thought the falcon would be further ahead, it is on looks though, And looks are what counts ( eg VT vs AU).

The AU was bold and modern, but hardly what you would call stylish. Hence the sales figures. Hence I brought a VT.

But Ford is back, nicer looking interior and heaps better exterior looks.

Fuel economy could be a concern though, many people these days consider fuel enconomy when purchasing a new car.

Congratulations to Ford on a tremendous effort, and may it sell in the numbers it deserves.

Well one thing that strikes me as odd is the fact that drive couldnt even get their hands on an XT to test. Its actually a Futura!!

Next point is the fact that the XT's suspension is setup for a lot softer ride than even the Ghia! They say that the Sports IRS (Std on Ghia) handles a lot better.

On top of that, They reckon the steering in the VY is better than the Falcon's.... What the?

Quote:
Executive used 9.2L/100km, a remarkable feat for a big-engined automatic sedan. By contrast, the Falcon XT averaged 11.9L/100km.
Final Point. Fuel consumption. I believe this will be one of the major selling features of the Vy Commodore. For years Holden havent touched the V6 engine and yet Falcon's have continued to put on weight, and Ford had to extract more power out of the engine to compensate.

I dont know about you guys.... But Im a little nervous. Please ease my concerns...

All in all an OK review for Ford but a few oddities:

-The Exec handles better than the Futura (or XT)? I havent driven either however if AU vs VT\VX is anything to go by then I am suprised to say the least.
-They couldn't decide which interior was better? C'MON!!

PS mineafalcon, as far as I can tell drive WANTED to have a Futura and an Acclaim however Holden supplied them with an Exec at the last minute.

Thats one review, one magazine's opinion....
How the HELL could the Commodores steering be better than the Falcon's?? I dont think so!
And theyre saying the new suspension is shit through the corners??? thats why it received an award for excellence in engineering...mmm makes sense to me ( sarcasm )

I'd say the review is HEAVILY counterweighted by its ( and most reader's ) love For the Commonwhore.....wait and see what the other magazines say....better yet, wait til you drive one yourself!

You may find people read these articles....go test drive the one which comes out on top...then think...wait I will go test the other one to see if its true....

Wait and see....I think Ford have some very good times ahead
