the new V6 is all alloy. Those power figures are quoted for the 3.6 and holden is expected to take the larger, 3.8l. That means more power and torque again. Interesting times ahead

The trusty Falcon 4.0 will need some pretty major surgery ( preferably a new engine) to counteract this. I must say I am impressed with what they did to the 4.0 with the BA, but still has serious fuel economy problems.

I don't think Ford has a decent V6 anywhere in its parts catalogue worldwide. I could be mistaken tho.
What have you guys been smokeing? The I6 is a new engine, and all Ford have to do is turn the wick up a little bit. The power is there for the taking.

We don't need a V6, and we DON'T want a V6!!!

Yeah but either way it will be brought out around the same time that BA2 comes out so they will have to run head to head for a fair while before we get a major update. Hopfully untill it arrives though we will be seen as the better choice and Ford can make some money out of BA.

Weight savings for BA2 would be the best place to start if looking for performance in all areas whilst not increasing fuel consumption. Our new auto could help here aswell.

The down part for Holden is that according to Wheels due to cost a smaller version of this engine might be used in the base Commode and this more powerfull 3.6 could be an option and also they are having trouble finding an affordable and just as importantly available 5 auto that can cope with their new V8s torque.

It is good though that Geoff has said Ford is looking at the big picture rather than just the short term to beat Commode.

Motor states the HFV6 is 2004 along with BAII. VYII is 2003.
Motor also states the Falcon AWD "Raptor" will be 2004?

Just been reading the latest Motor Mag November edition and it seems theres no need for Ford to cahnge the 6 cylinder engine, since it's release theres all praise for the DOHC 4.0 Inline 6. Basically media comments that it's a falcon engine for the millenium in both refinement, power and smoothness.

If it ain't broke don't bloody fix it i say. Meanwhile it clearly shows holden will need to change the ageing Buick V6.

so true, thats what i was thinking of, basically its so smooth already, so even if the new holden powerplant is really really good, the ford power plant is good enough.

Keep up the good work Holden...
