THE NSW Police service is set to recruit 20 computer specialists as spies for the NSW counter-terrorist unit.
According to a media report the successful applicants will be designated special constables and offered wages of between $60,000 and $103,000.
Commissioner Ken Moroney considered the high wage offer to civilians necessary to recruit the best computer specialists from the private sector, it said.
The new recruits will work in the newly-created State Electronic Evidence Branch of the police Special Service Group.
