War on speed cameras, literally

Found on the Drive website

Rebels attack speed cameras
A band of rebel motorists in England, Scotland and Wales have declared war on speed cameras, systematically destroying what they have dubbed "stealth tax inspectors". One camera on the M11 motorway, credited with nabbing 2000 motorists a day, was flattened after a truckie deliberately backed over it, according to police. Another was blown to pieces.

The Gatso cameras are being burnt or destroyed at a rate that is alarming police and costing nearly $60,000 a pop to replace. The rebels communicate with each other using internet chat rooms. They operate at night.

Police have offered a $5000 reward for information leading to the capture of one band of camera culprits.

Yes. I do.

I notice the RTA are slowly putting camera watching cameras around. They might be expecting something.......

Can't say I have seen them, but I do believe they would do such a thing. But then when they get smashed they will have to have cameras watching the cameras watching the speed cameras...where will it end?

Yeah, the fixed camera on Centennial Ave in Lane Cove has a floodlight and a surveillance camera watching it.

I wonder what their response time is. Say, hypothetically of course, if a chap wearing a Ronald Reagan face mask (a la Point Break) decided to deactivate the camera.

Not that I'm suggesting such a thing, just curious...

/me hides his Ronald Reagan mask in a hole in the back yard.

Hey 3Toed, are you going to moon the camera aswell?? (a la Point Break again)

But as FoMoCo4eva correctly stated, any "smart" person would take out the surveillance camera first.

More taxpayers money being used for worthwhile causes?? You be the judge.

Re: War on speed cameras, literally

They might have 2 camera's watching each other with the Speed camera in frame.

You would have to distroy the 2 survailace camera's at the same time.
