All,

I posted my car up for sale the other day and received a PM from a guy called john about it. His user name is 'ifetol' he was a new user with no posts. This is the email he sent back to me regarding my car. I know this is dodgy as my borther received a similar email when he was selling his car through car sales. The scam basically entails them saying they are going to give you money (ie: a cheque) they collect the car and give you the cheque then the cheque bounces leaving you with no money and no car.

Jsut thought you all should know about this. Below is the attached email he sent me about this.

Thanks for your reply on my request,i will be ready for the
purchase of the car if the deal can be sealed. My payment will be made
through a chasier's cheque by my client who reside in the United
State, as a result of cancelled order of $7,500 that i placed with him
some weeks back and this amount can only be issued on a single cheque
being a refund payment. I know the amount is more than the ammount of
your car, the cheque will be sent to you after we might have reach an
agreement by my client then you will deduct the amount for the car and
$100 for the running around and for wiring back the differences via
western union money transfer to my shipping agent who will come and
pick up the car at your residence with my shipper, once the rest of the
money is wired to my shipper. The funds you wired to him will be taking
care of shipping cost and other documents that will back it up.
Confirm this and mail me back with your name and address as it will
appear on the cheque, including your phone number pls make it faster.

You would think that they would attempt to learn the English language before they actually attempted to scam someone, but luckily they aren't smart enough.

Haha that Pastor John bit is the funniest! Its like an image of turban wearing bearded people hunched over a computer in a cave in the desert when all of a sudden one of them thinks that posing as a priest will totally disarm us and they all think its a great idea. HAHAHA

For some reason I got an email too! And my car is NOT for sale! I was kinda wary regarding his "Pastor John" name, but his reply email definately made it clear he was a joke. I actually thought it was a guy I know pulling a prank on me, so this Pastor John is gonna be confused when he reads my Torana Paddock Bomb reply!

to sell it a while ago (a couple of times actually, mainly due to
financial issues), but I'm afraid I'm not interested in selling anymore.

Were you under the impression that I was selling? Is there a thread that
still exists somewhere in FordForums stating that I'm selling my car?

I'm just wondering, that's all, because I had a couple of threads on
FordForums a while ago regarding selling the EB. If you read one of those
old threads, I might contact the mods to delete those threads.

there was an article on a similar type scam in last weeks SMH.Online where a bloke had been appraoched via email to "help get my families money out of Nigeria, in return we will give you some..bla.bla.bla, but need from you $X"

anyway this guy sends back an email saying he is a priest of some non-existant order and that he would dearly love to help but requires $100 payment from them the help him get his money out of the church (which doesnt exist) and you guessed it...the idiots sent him the $100 he asked for....proper article in the SMH (sorry dont have a link because it was last week)
