Havent actually been insured by them but i was very surprised and impressed with what theyre willing to insure. I was on teh verge of buying a 85 Camaro and just to have a bit of fun rang to see what it would cost to insure a:
85 Camaro with
aftermarket suspension
stereo
Supercharger 350 Chev (transpant over the stock 305)
on a P-plater driver who had 4 speeding fines which is a loss of licence in todays 5 points loss-of-licence laws.
They gave me about $3500 annual with $2000 premium or whatever its called when you claim.
I dont know if thats good or bad but at last they actually insure. Theyre a part of AAMI who I currently with and theyve been pretty good so far although I havent claimed on anything.
Hope it helps

Thats about the same premium I got quoted for camaro a while back.
They have quoted me $560 per year. Third Party, fire & theft, for a 92EBII gli with 351EFI c4 auto, 9in diff, mags, Exhaust, big brakes.
I thought that was pretty damn good. Full comp was $2080 per year. Which is a also very good. But not really worth it in a car which can only be insured for $3000.
The one time I called them was when I had my hyundai excel.
They were pretty open to offering me cover when I wanted to modify the car. I was looking to add either a supercharger or twin throttle bodies to the car. They were happy for me to have this on the car and insure me. The only negative point I found was that they wanted to offer a market value policy, not agreed value. If ur unsure what this means, its that my $xxx value car would be paid out in a claim at the value they saw my car worth at the time(what the market rate was) and not necessarily what it would be worth with all the mods.
So the market may have seen the car to be 9k but with my extras I may have wanted it insured for 12k. So I wouldn't necessarily be insuring myself for what I really needed.
However they were pretty decent on premiums and as I said before pretty flexible so I wouldn't hesitate to call them next time I have a mod which puts my car outside a normal insurance companies guidelines.
There's another thread in "the pub" section on this and other insurance companies....

i just got quoted 1700 for my EB with the kit, zorst and manual conversion.
Fairly steep for a 5600 buc car but what can you do?
My way of looking at it was i could buy a POS EA every year of insurance!
After writing me EA off on the way to work it's something that I feel i need to do though.

They specialise in modified/specialty cars..........and don't freak out when you start listing all your wierd parts. I found them reasonably priced too.
Life sucks until you get your 65% level one No Claim Bonus.
I tried to get insurance through shannons and they said because my car was driven daily and I didnt enter it in car shows and stuff like that they wouldnt insure it.
My policy states: "agreed value", "private use" and "regular driver usage".
They wouldn't insure it for it's full receipt value, however, fully comprehensive agreed value of $14,000 costs me $608 per year with max NCB (65%).
The other company I used before was VIGIL Underwriting, They are good too, in terms of their "street machine" understanding. OK priced but Shannons gave me a better deal.
