Smile well, i am now getting it!

yesterday i signed on the dotted line for a new au3 xr6. this is going to be the first decent new car i have ever bought. sadly i have to wait till feb or so as it has to be built as there are no silver autos in stock (i know..but it was a necessary compromise with the minister for finance).

took one for a bit of a drive on thursday, and it started to make strange noises above 150 kmh (overtaking...honestly officer :) ) and am not sure what they were.

it also means that i am also having to look for an escort van to cart the doggie about in.

oooohhhh...the excitement in this house is tangible :)

the waiting is going to be hell, but will be well worth it when it arrives. i am really tempted to drive across the nullarbor at some point.

must invest in a radar detector first :)

The more XR's on WA road the better I say...

Well done on the car, but I don't envy you having to wait till Feb for it... :(

Waiting till Feb is good because then you get 2002 build plate.

As for carting dogs, I cart my German Shepherd (54kg) in the back seat by placing a cover over the seats and tucking into the fold down seat backs. Works well. And with the leather you just wipe up the dog hairs afterwards (the stray ones).

I'm going to get a custom rear seat cover etc made for carting the dog in the near future. Until Ford make a decent XR8 wagon equivalent to the sedan (ie, same power, IRS etc etc)

Good stuff mate. Roll on Feb. Considering how fast 2001 went, you shouldn't have to wait long.
