confused what the....?!?

ok today i was driving my boss's VT commordore around,
anyway i got to a set of lights,
lights go green, i plant my foot to the ground, i take my foot off
and the car kept reving higher and higher and i was doing 140 in a 60 zone trying to slow down, i had my foot on the brake, but was still pushing
i then wacked it into neutral reved its head off but then cut itself off and by that time i had pulled over on the side of the road going "WHAT THE ****!!"
i know cruise control wasent on,
what the hell was it, it could have ended much worse..

Re: what the....?!?

I experienced the exact same thing in my by bosses VT (doesn't have it anymore).

I'm sure there was a recall for this back in the VT days too.

Nice story son. Tell that to the judge

Hehe seriously tho that's pretty bad. Sounds like the throttle cable is binding up or something.

Re: what the....?!?

My XF did that once when doing some spirited driving round a corner, but luckily i gave it a few quick jabs and it came unstuck. SCARY AS SH1T !!!!!
sorted it out now though :)
the thing is whats the best thing to do.. if you kill the ignition then you lose assisted braking and steering wouldnt you... so i suppose the best thing to do is to slap it in neutral and brake hard as the engines bouncing on the limitier till you slow down enough to turn off the ignition?!?!

Re: what the....?!?

yeh it was hell scary, the brake pads were smokin up aswell to add to all this pressure at once,
though i thought i handeled the situation good,
didnt panic (a little), but thought about what to do,
did it and everything came out fine,

makes me think though, they should be teaching this stuff to you whilst you are on your L's..
