What the Americans think about the BA

Found this on fordvschevy.com

Interesting thoughts about the GTO. If it is going to be that expensive over there then GM should unclench their arse and give the yanks the full house 300kw engine. If you're going to be paying a tax for fuel consumption you may as well have power

I think they're all a little misinformed on Current Model Falcons, and fuel consumption figures. The posting of T3 Falcons and Pursuit utes? Sure the media havent really had the time to fully go over the current model lineup, but really, thats what Wheels magazine is around for. Whats this about a lack of Alloy? As I recall, the engine blocks are sourced from North America, and we designed the Alloy Head six.

But fair enough, I guess its a good glossing over of what Ford AU have..

Lets forget about the Ford vs Holden thing for a second and think how great we have it, and hope it stays this way for years to come!

Some interesting quotes:

"Hyperformance" - "Ya know, with the Big Three getting into a Hp war with each other, I can definately see these cars coming to America/Canada.

There'll be a line up a mile long (or 1.6km's) to buy one. At 26K... its a hell of a car.

I'll take the XR8 GT. "

"sportinsco" - "Why do they get all the cool shit? that car would be enough to make me wanna buy a Ford."

"5LBIRDOFPREY" - "kinda makes me wanna buy one in australia, and have it shipped here...it would definitely be a unique car."

Isnt it good to live here and drive such fine cars! (holdens and fords)

Hell yeah the Americans have been missing out. Chevy no longer have a mainstream rear drive sedan with the discontinueing of the Chevy Caprice. CAN YOU IMAGINE??? In America, you can't get a rear drive sedan from GM, the largest car manufacturer in the world. Ford still have the Crown Victoria, which is pretty sweet, but that's got about as much performance as my EF 6 pot. A car like the Barra would, IMHO, absolutely dominate the US market and has no equal.

But then again, the way the American mind works defies logic. Look at the popularity of Honda over there. The demise of the Camaro and Firebird. FWD Cadillacs and Lincolns?!?!?!? The popularity of the PT Cruiser, VW Beetle, Ford Taurus. The makers of the mighty Toyota Avalon...

I also predicted that come October, with the launch of BA, Holden, Toyota and Mitsubishi would pack up and go home... Still waiting on that one.

We definitely got it good over here. Few people in other countries and even over here realise that.

Btw, someone on the US forum was worried about the high octane rating of our fuel: we measure our octane in RON whereas they use AKI. Basically, their octane ratings tend to be lower than ours so our fuels are roughly the same.
