I have only put Optimax in my car. what do you guys use and why.

I'm not going to vote in the poll 'cause I don't know!
In saying that, I've always put in Optimax as it's easily available to me, and having Mobil as my only other choice. But after reading what Kelli has said regarding her dyno results and the two fuels, I'd near say Mobil is the way to go.
I think they're the only two 98 octane fuels aren't they?

somebody on the aus.cars newsgroups said 100 ron will be available mid year. Mobil 10,000 maybe?

BP has "ultimate".. 98 ron.
Some say its the same as Optimax.

There is only actually 2 fuels in Sydney 2/3s is Caltex & the other 1/3 is Shell the rest buy off them

Actually thats not true...

Caltex / Ampol all come from one refinery

Shell / BP come from the one refinery

Mobile comes from a different refinery.

There is also independant fuel suppliers (I wont name names) who actually supply fuel from the cheapest source. Most of the time this cheaper fuel, is also mixed with stuff that has been drained out of old tanks, or its diluted with other chemicals.

There is also the 50/50 rule... which states, that you must have a minimum of 50% of the advertised fuel in the tank (if the pump says "Optimax" the tank it draws from must have 50% optimax in it)..

This makes the independant fuel suppliers more appealing to servo operators. As the price fuel is at the time you order it, is not the price you pay. Many times I ordered petrol, and by the time the tanker arrived (a couple of hours later) the price was up a few cents. You may think... "wow... a couple of cents"... but when you are talking about 40,000L that can be over a grand more than you expected.

Optimax sells extremely well.

I don't know how well the others are shifting there 98 ron fuels, but shell shifts enormous quanties of optimax. Some companies have instructed their entire fleets to use it.

BP ultimate is not the same as optimax
