What is the best radar detector to use now?

I was looking online at this radar detector forum website @ Radar Detector Forum: Reviews and Laser Jammers

However, the Valentine One Radar is 400.00! Wanted to make sure this was worth it before purchasing it.

I recently purchased a new detector and went through the same thing. The Valentine is a very good detector and is still rated as one of the best. It is a little expensive though and I ended up buying an Escort passport 8500 X50 and have found it brilliant. The reveiws gave it's performance as very much the same as the V1 but for less money.

I think the Bell STi is rated as the best at the moment but very pricey.

I use an Escort Solo S2 cordless. The batteries last about 2 weeks. It's an excellent detector, it works very well and it's saved me several times.

I never hear anyone complain about Valentine.. I'm looking into one myself.. Yes, they're kind of expensive.. You're paying for some of their reputation..
