What would you consider to buy over a 2002 TS50, low km's, blue print, 5 spd, leather, etc or a new BA XR8. Both the same price $62000 NZ. I am interested in all your opinions.
There has just been a thread on a TE50 and a XR6 Turbo, worth reading that tooo
For my opinion, depends what you are after. Personally I would have (and do have) a manual TS50 over the BA XR8. The TS has more Road Presence, and is a very good looking AU (people even ask me if mine is a BA)
The 5.6 lt Stroker is magic, and although rated at 250 kw, I think you will find that most generate more power than that. Being lighter than a BA, they perform better on the track.
I also believe that they handle better than the BA XR8. I do believe that Tickford (FPV) got the TS50 right, and with the BA went the softer option. I would call the TS50 a "Mans Car", whereas the BA XR8 is a "everybody Car" Not saying that the TS50 is a pig to drive around town, quite the opposite, I drive mine every day, and it makes me smile everyday, but when you give it to it, its all Brute.
Resale, well thats a tough one, short term the BA will be better, long term the T series will be much better, because of the rarety of the vehicle.
These are my opions, and no doubt, others will have different opinons

I agree with you TS50...in particular on the resale point.
In the end XR8NZ...it boils down to your personal preference. If you can, test drive both of them and see which gets your heart pumping, which handles better and which one you would want to drive everyday.
I would probably go for the TS50...not because the BA is a bad vehicle, just because of the road presence...the look and the general appeal.

TS50 for me anyday over the BA XR8...provide the TS comes with leather seats. IMO, the TS looks much tougher and with only 10kw difference, that can be changed by strapping on a capa blower. So the verdict for me is still the T3 TS50.

The TS is a ripping drive, no doubt... but the XR8 would get my vote! "Why!??!" - I hear the naysayers scream.... well there is one easy answer beginning with the letter V.
It's name is Vortech! The results of the CAPA development still give me mahogany!! You simply CANNOT argue with the gains that this engine produces with forced induction, and let's face it - if you were completely serious about owning a fast car, you would be modifying whatever it was that you bought, be it an AU or BA - hence, I feel that any argument about "oh but it's got to be stock" is pure bullshit.
The Boss260 + Vortech combo is ideal for me! Sensational driveability, noise, and value.
