I currently have a 98 EL GLi only done 107kms not to bad i spose, i am thinking about trading it in.

What would be a better option, keep what i have now and start doing things to it, wheels exhaust etc etc

Or hunt down a nice EL xr8 or fairmont ghia and use that as a base for an even better car

Can you get the fairmont's in manuals, am very sick of driving around in an auto all the time?

Any suggestions :)

You can't get the Fairmonts in manual, and you can't get XRs with the Fairmont-style features, so either way you'd need to do some mods to get the best of both worlds. The EL Fairmont Ghia is an excellent compromise as it has an XR6-style engine and diff. I'd recommend doing the sums as far as what features or performance you want, and what you are willing to spend. If all you want is outright performance, you might as well consider modifying the GLi with forced induction.

Forced induction is a bit out of my reach atm... prolly be happier with an XR as they are manual which is the main thing that i am after :)

Though insurance will go up i am sure, i like pyaing less then $400 for full comp its nice

Have to weigh up lots im sure which is the bad part, tho i do think the XR's would come out on top for what i want..

Get the ghia!

get an exhaust and it'll have the same amount of power as the xr6 and the car will have more power. get some springs and shocks and it'll be a great drive.

Thats just what i reckon.

unless i shift kit as such the auto.... how many klms are to many on these cars ?

I'd go XR8.. Can't beat V8's. You'll be hooked once you get the 5 litre bug too :)

only do about 75kms a day.. petrol sucks here 92cpl + now days for nomal ULP :(

MightyEF thats pretty damn sweet to, spose not to many klms on it either.

Getting car serviced this w/e gonna have to go check some out :)
