Lightbulb What do you do at the beach...

Just wondering people, with it being summer and all. When you go to the beach, what do people do with their keys these days? Its too risky to leave them 'hidden' in your towel (I've had my keys stolen that way before, luckly I saw the punks take the gear from the water and 'dealt' with them). I use to just wear the key around my neck with a tied showlace and key ring on it, which was fine under a wetsuit or rash shirt, but since I bought the XR6, im not game to with the built in immobiliser chip in the key head.

So unless someone can assure me the key head is 100% water tight, that option has gone out the window (something i've been doing for 5 years with my suzuki key).

Suggestions people....

Oh, one other thing I was thinking about was getting a key cut without the immoboliser chip in it, and locking the good key in the boot.

maybe you could get a normal key cut it wont start the car without the chip but it will open the car.
leave your full set locked in the car.

You can actually buy these little capsules you can tie around your neck which are water tight, specifically for this purpose.

I think I've seen them at some of the larger chemists around town, or maybe try kmart / etc

The only thing im worried about is someone smashing a window and 'walla', a set of keys. I think its harder to get into the boot though, unless you climb through the seats.

Yea, insurance companies take very dim views of people who lock sets of keys in the car.

Your friendly local Big W should stock them, however at this timeof year (and being christmas) they may be temporarily out of stock.

Living 10 mins from the beach - I have this prob. nearly every day over summer! (Oops, that should read 'lived'... just moved).

Do as someone that I used to know, he simply put the keys on the front tyre of his truck! As much as I laughed and couldn't believe that he'd do it, he never had a prob! {smirk}

Seriously - I used to take the key pad off the ring - left this at home. The keys are 'supposed' to be 100% H20 proof (mine still works). I simply then attached the key to the wax comb tie in my boardies pocket... Works for me.

Cheers
