G'day,
i got a mate who keeps going on and on about how he is going to get a turbo car and up the boost to 10psi and beat me in my stock ebII falcon (manual). i just say yeah whatever ya reckon mate we'll see. After months of him saying it, he has finally found a car which he is considering getting. Its a 1985 Cordia Turbo, with recent rebuilt engine and a couple of other bits and peices all with 10 months rego for $1400. (for that price it must be dodgy me thinks)
He has read up that the cordia goes 0 - 100 in 7.9 seconds when brand new and with this rebuild he reckons it shouldn't be too far from that and thats only running stock boost. However all i have heard about Corida's is that they aren't anygood and are one of the worst turbo cars made. Is this true or do these cars actually have some speed and would it stand a chance against me??
From memory, the cops were trialing them as pursuit vehicles when new, and they had a minor flaw at high speed where they would pull to the left or right and very unpredictable.
I think he might beat you, but it sounds like a dodgy buy at that price...
But then again, why up the boost just to beat a stock EB2? I think he will be going through some cash on this car.

'67 Mustang V8 4sp... what fun to drive!
I hate to disappoint your mate's fun but Cordia turbo's did not do 7.9 to 100km/h try 10 seconds to 0-100km/h. If they got 7.9 it was a leaded petrol car... the post unleaded died by up to 2 seconds to do the 0-100km/h.
They also had terrible turbo lag but were very light at only 1065kg. They were similar to a Starion turbo which is what I wanted but decided against eventually.
yeah unfortunately its got the leaded engine, this is the add...

i agree with what a couple of the other guys have said. it is very hard to believe that he is selling the car without changing the pluigs and leads. the car must run like a sick pig and he has dodgy leads and plugs to hide something much bigger and expensive. i wouldnt walk away from this car...i would run.
