I had a look at an EBII Fairmont the other day, he wanted $3k for it.
Cons:
It needs 4 new tyres like 6 months ago
It has no Rego (I cant drive it!)
Two power windows dont work
It has damage to the door and rightfront guard. (door just shuts and will need inner front guard 'massaging' aswell as a new door and guard to look decent)
Leaky rocker cover (minor I know)
Sucking sound from the manifold area
Possible suspension damage from the accident though I couldnt see anything noticable (it has majorly chewed out the edge of the tyre though and he says it pulls to the left a little)
Pros
170,000kms
No lifter tick when he started it from dead cold.
Interior slightly better than average
Service history
Cd Player
No major clunking from the tranny
Has the trip Fairmont wiring loom that I need for my ED so I can have climate/trip computer.
Paint is good from what I could see (it was night)
I offered him $1500, and he said he'd get back to me as there was someone from Adelaide looking at coming up and buying it. That fell through, so the ball is in my court. But I was thinking $1500 may be still too much? Theres atleast $500 worth of repairs before I even think about taking to get regoed. (and a diff State too, so will require a full roadworthy check) Possible bonus is that im pretty sure a wrecker mate of mine has the same coloured Falcon in his yard.
Some people may have seen it on Ebay
Opinions?

Yeah it will be a bit of both, I want the factory power windows (mine has some aftermarket set) and the trip computer/climate control. But I dont want to wreck it so it will replace the Gemini as a daily.

sounds like a bargain, but before i purchased my car, i had a mechanic take a look at my car, all it needed was a new exhaust that was it, had it checked for road worthy, and all it needed was an exhaust, smacked one on, and that was it, the car only did 140kms until this year, that's my experience, also check the log book to see how frequently it was serviced
I wouldn't pay more than $1500,considering what it's going to cost you to get it to roadworthy condition, just look around there are bargains to be made.
My Bro in law just bought an EBII Fairmont for $5000 and it's in excellent conditions with 160,000Ks on it.
Cheers John
