I've always felt a sports car was something that made the driver happy because of the way it performed, and has no real practical use. What do you guys think?

Well, it has to have decent power, and sport suspension, and somewhat sleek looks for it to be considered a sports car. A good sports car should have great all around attributes, not in just one area. The past consensus has been that a sports car must also be two doors, and can seat either 2-4 people. But the times are changing, and we are seeing 4 door sports cars coming out. (Mazda-RX8), and even three doors such as the Saturn. So what defines a sport car? I dunno, what do you guys think?

A real sports car is an American or German made two seater - may have a back seat but only a chihuahua could fit - 8 roaring cylinders - stick shift and enough horespower to make you grow 3 inches on accel from a stop! Only my opinion

Oh yeah, stick shift. Everything about it has to be beefier too, the engine, transmission and all have to be stronger. Steering has to be right too, I don't care how fast a sho is, if it steers like my mom's taurus its out of the question, but thats my opinion at least. Ergonomics has to be right too, that means things like the radio and air conditioning low down so its not distracting you while your driving. The seats should support you, not be a lazy boy. It also needs a cool name, and should have a good sound to the engine and exhaust.

And it should be as fast as it looks, thats important. Something they forgot in the 2nd gen eclipse rs...

Hey, don't forget the English, Italians, and some Japenese cars. I'm just playing with you.

Anyway look at the Subaru WRX, that one has 4 doors on it.

Sorry Stacy, but the name Subaru just doesn't come to mind when I think "sports car". Not that they are a bad car! Depending on a persons wants and needs almost any car can be classified as good, but not a "sports car"

I'm just saying sportscars are changing every year. 210 hp isn't bad. A poor mans sports car is what it is. If you buy a WRX you become a member in the SCCA. Trust me it's not a Jag, Vett, or a Ferrari.

A true sports car must have:

1) Two doors.
2) Excellent handling.
3) A good power to weight ratio.
4) Two seats or a rudimentary back seat.
5) Rear wheel drive.
6) Preferably a ragtop.

What's not a sports car:

1) Anything that Ford has ever made as a corporation.
2) Any GM product except the Corvette.
3) Any front wheel drive vehicle.

What is a sports car:

1) Corvette.
2) MR2
3) S2000
4) Miata
5) Rx-7
6) 427 Cobra
7) GT40
8) Ferrari 308GTSi
9) BMW Z3
10) Porsche Boxster
