How "new" is the I6 going to be? . I hear it is going to be 24V with a twin cam , is it going to be all alloy? Is it totally a new engine or just an upgrade . If it is only an upgrade how much longer will the current engine be used?
it has been said there are changes to the block as well as the bore and stroke of the engine as part of the upgrade and hints that the capacity may be greater than the current 4L, truth be known, nobody can really tell you with any certainty, and we will find out when launch comes around

No it wont be all alloy. As far as I know only the head has been tinkered with, as you mentioned before about the 24V head.
I presume if the next falcon sells really well, and ford Oz make a profit, then ford US would give us the green light for an all-alloy IL6 to be built in Geelong. If the flacion fails we will eiother have no falcon or some shitty V6 shit. we will just havet o take what they give us.

rumours are as DK said, the block is different, diff bore n stroke to accomodate the wider twin cam head. Same approximate 4L capacity due to the bore n stroke changes.
Its been said owners of current I6 wont be able to swap the DOHC head of new design to old motor. So anyone waiting to try this, your fun was just put to an end.
But just blardy wait a few more months ffs! Every freakin day another question pops up about the barra. No one can tell you what its going to actually look like, or what motor it will have, etc etc.

There is no-one in Australia today capable of volume production, of an alloy block motor of any configuration. The ability to switch between iron & alloy castings is not as simple as it would appear.
NB. GMH 'new' alloy engine plant is for assembly only & at least intially the castings will be imported.

The new components of the motor are Head, crank, sump, few other odds and sodds, played around with plastic thermo housings but mount to head wasn't suitable.
Intake Manifold is carry over. Head is definitely twin cam, with individual coils per plug

tis all rumours until the press release.
pretty much sums up what I was gonna say...
yeh yeh we are all bloody excited and cant wait, but until I hear the details from FORD I will treat all info as rumours, which is exactly what they are! Ok maybe some of them are educated rumours...but as far as im concerned they are all
Id prefer to wait until its out anyway...that way the 'opposition' cant get a foot in the door - element of surprise
