What is the point of self-evident or misleading rego plates?
Why do people with, for example, a red XE get a personalised REDXE plate? And, say, ugly sheilas get SXECHK? Is there some deep, philosophical sub-text to the personalised plate world, or are they just dills?
You could argue the REDXE owner is being educational - people who are colour blind and/or not XD-XF afficianados (ie, Holden owners) would know exactly what it is!
The ugyl sheila with SXECHK is also being educational, alerting you to the fact she is a dill, as you said. :s3

I've always been perfectly happy with the ones the government give me, except for the bit where they keep a record and can find me when they take unsolicited photographs of my car.
Worst one i've seen, on a lady who lived across the road from my parents: PUDEL :oo1:
When I saw it I thought WTF? But little did I realise she actually owned about 20 of the little tufty posh looking 4 legged bastards (this is no exaggeration).
Also, saw one on a H? series one tonner "RACEIT" - when I saw it he was going at about 160 racing a VL turbo on the wrong side of a two lane road - nearly killed me
I think they're good if they're smart.
