Whats the point

Ive just about had it with my EB monty. Ever since ive bought it its been nothing but trouble.

Since i purchased it in early July of this year (2004) it has had to following go wrong and be repaired in chronological order:

1. Power windows didnt work - dealer fixed but they are still all pretty bad
2. AC didnt function due to lack of belt, belt attached and snapped, Compressor seized
3. ALT belt snapped and alternator seized- new ALT and Belts purchased
4. Battery packed up 3 days later - new battery
5. Whining noise evident from exhaust, found bolts missing
6. Absolutly terrible fuel economy, full service- new leads, plugs, filters and it still is crap
7. discs uneven - machined
8. wheel alignment found to be out a fair bit - yet to be fixed
9. Battery goes flat - charged
10. Battery goes flat again, replacement ALT is found to be Faulty - Brand new ALT and belts
11. Entire left rear light section stops working - all globes replaced
12. Left indicator flashes very quick, yet to be rectified
13. And now to top it all off, it appears to be drinking coolant.

Kinda coincidental the biggest and latest is then unlucky 13.

I know its a 12 year old car, but to own a car for less then 6 months and have this much go wrong, really, im at the point of never buying a Ford again. My EA was somewhat more reliable, all beit for an EA.
Im at the point of moving to a Holden and i know they have their problems, but everyone ive seen works awesome, or getting a toyota which generally very reliable. Given how far i need to drive to get to uni and to where i work, i cant justify a car that is being repaired every second day and costs $60 a week in petrol.

left inidacator would just be a globe.. blown or half blown...... thats not to bad a list

Dude, I know how you fell, as do most of the people on EAFalcon.

within the first 4 Months My EA id all that PLUS the LPG system. Unfortunatly some E series seem to be prone to probs and other are not. Allways seems that your own E Series is the worst compaired to others. I know I think it every time the damn EA chucks a fit.

Ill my mates keep telling me is, once u fix it all, then there isnt any thing left to fix

I guess I know how you feel. I'm fairly close to cleaning up the mess the previous owners have left this thing in. Still a few things left, just little things, but it all adds up in the end. Stick with it, there's not much point callign it quits and moving on to something with potentially more problems.

If it's not a globe it'll be the relay which is 30 bucks from Ford. 90 bucks if you want the tow pack heavy duty one....bet you can guess where I told em to go with that.

1 - power windows usually give troube
3,9 and 10 are all a result of the same initial problem
5 - exhausts dont last foever
7 - neither do rotors try those RDA ones if you dont want to spend much
11,12 related? Go to wreckers and pocket some bulbs :)
8 - $50 tops and she'll be sweet again
6 - sounds like it needs a bit more diagnosis than the standard chuck new leads filter and plugs she'll be right routine

Your probs arent't that bad except maybe for the last one.

if u go to a H*****, then i bet that this list would be twice that lengh. specially switchin from a ford, its bound to happen. hang in there. like u said theres only so much that can be fixed.

I know guys, its just so frustrating that i buy a car and expect that not to much will fall to crap in the first six months of ownership. Ive spend over a 5th of the vaule of the vehicle in that time, and coming off a stolen car, cash is something i have none of. Id rather get rid of it and get something better. I will be getting some money this coming summer from employment, so i figure a newer cheaper car, id prefer LPG 6cyl then a 4cyl. As for the problems being minor or related, for a car that was bought with a RWC and a new exhaust, some of them shouldnt have occured.

Agree Smoked EB

The Heads on my EB fell off 5 months after I purchased it, and continue to have problems with it to this day... But... I know the car inside out, have these forums to help me if there is a problem.

I say spend the cash to bring it up to spec and enjoy it.

The battery problem.. maybe your alternator.
The coolant problem I had a simliar issue just seem to keep loosing it. Turns out the hoses where buggered and they eventually let go. They where in a really werid spot as well hard to find. Or the water pump might be leaking.
