guys just after a bit of unbiased (?) advice...

like many folks off here, unfortunately, I am having to resort to selling my pride and joy to do the house building thing

she is a 1994 XR8 sprint, red in colour, and 5speed manual with a smidge over 107,000kms on the clock. Only mods are exhaust and extractors. Paint work is pretty much mint condition bar a couple of small stone chips on the front spoiler, and interior is clean as a whistle. Car is always garaged and only comes out on weekends and car cruises / shows usually.

now to me it is worth a lot (so why am i selling it? stuffed if i know either), but what is a reasonable figure to ask on the market for her?? I have someone interested, and he has said to give him a figure, but i dont know where to start!

I have seen sprints go for 14k and there was one in the trading post a couple of months back for 28k so its pretty much an open ball game by the looks!

Any advice / comments / offers welcome (please!)

Well I have seen the odd one pop up in Unique cars and they are in the 20,000 + range. They are a very nice car and your sounds the goods, so something around the $23 range maybe a little more sounds like a good deal.

There is a EB GT does not say how many K's going for 32,000, EA Brock with 119,000 K's for 21,700

Thats is why you need to marry an wife that understands. We have just brought a block of land and will be building in the near future. The Mrs has told me the Mustang is never to be sold, the XY is exactly the same.

If you feel strongly about the car i wouldn't sell it unless you get the price your really happy with other wise you will regrete it. Your sprint is very sweet and there is not many around in that condition with relatively low km's for the year. Surely theres a way out of it without selling the car.

I know i'll dread the day i'll have to sell my baby for a house as well.

Seen a few for sale in W.A. and they were advertised for around $23,000.-

One had an asking price of $34,000.-

If you can, hold off till the right buyer comes along to pay a fair price.
Too many tyre-kickers around that will try and insult you and your baby.

I have seen this problem before, the other half decides she wants a new house with everything except boy toys.

If you can't afford to build the house without sacrificing the car, then don't sell the car. Because once you let your toy's go she will be reluctant to allow you collect more later.

My mates missus is forever putting his car and ski boat on the choppin block so she can make more changes to the house. It never ends.

As for value if its as mint as you say then $23k cash. Its up to you how you low you'll go.
