Just had a flick through the new Wheels magazine at lunchtime.

Cover story is SV6 vs XR6 (NA)
Not word-for-word but near enough "If it were a g'box comparsion the SV6 would be bragging back at the pub about what it does right.....however as it's a sporty 6cyl sedan comparison the XR6 retains the title in a close victory.

In the people mover stakes it's Territory vs Commy wagon vs Honda (Odyssey?).

there were two individual tests for the holdens...
The first test was holden verses holden... (see my first post - above)
The second test was the SV6 verses XR6.. (see my second post - below)

both engines smooth but go about their business differently.
they love the way the V6 revs, they dont like the lack of engine noise (extractors and exhaust will fix that), they say all you can hear is induction roar.

as always they say the for has more compliant suspension, whereas the holden thumps over rough roads. But they say the holden has more grip better handling. They point out the floaty suspension in the XR6. THEY LOVE the new 5 speed auto

The Holden suspension still relies too much on the tyres. Until they get a new suspension and rework the chassis it will be behind the XR.

WHY THE HELL WONT ANYONE TEST A MANUAL XR6 - sorry to shout!!!!!!!!!!

Both Wheels and Motor only have times for the auto

Are we really worried about around .2 of a second over a quarter mile?

Can't wait to see an idiot SV6 driver pull up next to an XR6T and think he's got the goods - the joy of ownership won't last long for him...
