Ok first things first. On Page 24 of the latest Wheels Mag is a small pic of the XR8 bonnet. It looks almost the same, just a bit longer in the front. My opinion is it looks good and hasn't changed hardly enough for previous lovers of the original bonnet to be concerned.

Also for the interested are some write-ups on the HSV GTS auto and Signature series VY models. Wheels were not to kind on them, although I did not read the whole article. The 400m times were not that impressive relatively either.

260kW Signature � 14.7
300GTS (Auto) 14.5

In a different article regarding speed trials the Manual GTS with �Tander� driving pulled a more respectable 13.8, but these are times I would expect the XR8 may get, let alone a GT. For more info buy the mag. (I didn�t)

If anyone has they might want to further clarify or expand on what I mentioned so far.

The pic of the bonnet is the old one. They describe it as being a V shape so i would think there would be a noticable difference.

i'd say it's the new bulge. It does kinda look to start closer to the front of the bonnet.

It is the new bonnect. Compare the new bonnect to the old one and you will see there is a small difference.

In the top speed shoot out they talk about the 427 and the need to plug the car into mains power (240v) to warm it up enough to start the thing. Does this mean the road going version will be the same? Surely not. There's no way a car THAT different to what you can buy off the showroom floor and drive on the street would be allowed to enter. Would it?

I'm pretty sure they were talking about the Bathurst 24hr Monaro...if i'm wrong its simply because i couldn't be bothered walking downstairs to check the mag

From memory the 427 doesn't feature at all in this months wheels.
