I went fishing this last long weekend at Victor Harbour and Waitpinga and as much as I like a challenge, I didnt catch anything. Well, I did catch an undersized Rock cod and had to throw it back, but I find it hard to keep up my enthusiasm for fishing when I spend a complete weekend not catching anything decent. I have a 12' beach casting rod with only a 20lb line. I know it isnt the best rod for jetty fishing but with the right sinker I can cast pretty far. It also helps if I had the right bait in the first place. I've only started fishing in the past 12 months.
Have you had a similar experiences?
I plan to organise a few guys to do a deep sea fishing charter. Hopefully then I can catch some Snapper or Deep Sea Perch or something. Anyone done this?
What spots do you find to be good fishing areas where you live?
The only freshwater fishing I've done is in the Murray. And you know what kind of crap you get in the Murray!
I'd love to know where a nice fresh water torrent or stream is and try something a little different.
I've spoken to a Fishing Charter place and they said it will cost $90 per person for 6 hours of fishing including rods, bait & tackle. Does that seem to be a reasonable cost?
$90 for 6 hrs sounds alright. Was there a minimum number of people?
See if there is any clause for extra charges with lost tackle... I've been hit before, and the snags bumped the price up.

I have been fishing once, and unfortunately I will never get that time back. It was particularly boring...but it didn't help that there were most likely no fish in there.

Yeah I thought it was too, especially when I was younger. But, I always get a thrill when I catch something and I reckon its worth the wait. No more of this sit on ya ass waiting for the fish on a jetty.
I have just booked a charter to take me out to the waters of Spencer gulf just off the edge of Yorke Peninsula to catch Snapper, Whiting and hopefully deep sea Perch.
Its costing $155 per person for 10hours. All bait, rods, and tackle included with the grace of the first snag but if we keep loosing them we may be in trouble. We leave after 12pm arvo on the 5th Dec. and come home between 10pm-11pm. I'm looking forward to it.
over here in W.A the fishing is great! I dont go that much now days, but I remember the times where you would throw a line in from the boat, pull up a nice size snapper, throw back in, pull one up and so on and so on, until you had your limit.

We have plenty of good fishing spots here in WA but you dont always catch fish.
Some people go up north for 10 days and will only catch fish on one of those days but its all worth it at the end.
