whoa, just saw the interior and engines of a coupla' Barra
Well I just stuck my head inside a new BA Fairmont Ghia, and a Futura. Both were passing thru my place of residence on there way to NT (staying at Nyngan tonight if anyone there!!) they pulled into the local Ford for a few things, and guess who was lucky enough to be there. Had the digital camera with me but was requested to not take photos which is understandable considering as one of the team things here haven’t even been seen by motoring journos etc. The car(s) very impressive even in ‘gunmetal gray’ the interior is fabulous, tiptromic auto on ghia, manual on futura. Fairmont had sat nav, a weird analogue clock set back in the top of the dash, leather seats with inserts, overall very stylish and very much the same as saw in this months wheel mag. The ghia was a inline 6, the engine (yes I saw it!!) well the main denoting feature to tell of was ‘DUAL VCT” embossed on the black engine cover. The ghia and futura both had the 2 head lights as seen on press photos, the big difference it was hard to tell on the futura was the lights were silver set in a silver back drop but had the ‘2 lenses’. Had a great chat with the 3 guys there about a lot of things, they were all very aware of FordForums and Geoffs and Davids participation. Have some other info on engines outputs but not sure if the moderators want that posted. Overall you need to see it in the flesh to appreciated it, plus the interior is a mighty step forward, take my word for it!!!...
even nicer when you have a digital camera in the car, one of those rare moments!!...but anyway the happy snaps werent to be!!!..but ahhh the memories!!!!!
So the clock is not integrated with the LCD screen in the center of the dash??
no like the old verada of a few years ago, that had the sepreate central analogue clock, kinda looks a little out of place. The clock is set simialr to the XR lights that is the dash area is groove for the clock to sit as i said similar to the new BA XR where the lights are slightly set into the bumper (unlike the ghia etc.). They were production cars on there way to NT for some further heat testing. THey said these where NOT (edited by dkmaj after he reread it!!)special mules but off the same production line Joe Public would be getting there new BAs in several weeks. Local Ford said they have 2 Fortes due in now 23rd September.
