I am thinking of going on a Contiki trip to Europe and I wanted to know from other people's experiences what it is like. I havent travelled much and wouldnt know what to expect on something like this, so any information or advice is appreciated. :s5

For mine tours are the way to go for a first time traveller. You get to see much more than you normally would and the added benifits of not worrying about getting in to places & your luggage etc is heaven sent.
Can't reccommend them enough mate

Amazing, i was about to post the same thing. I am going on a 17 day Contiki through Europe in August! then from there to one of the Greek Islands!

Can't damn wait! As this is the first time i'm travelling overseas, mate and I decided that the Contiki is definately the best way to see Europe without having to worry about transport, accomodation, food etc, as FM has said...

Heading of to London First, will have roughly a week before the tour starts.

Mate you'll love London. Is a bloody brilliant town. Take lots of cash though!

These sorts of tours are the best.. just do it.

In relation to having extra time... you may wish to see what you like on your trip first and then go back.

eg some like London, I didn't rate it..... depends on what you like

We want to go to Ios, we here this is the party island and is pretty reasonable in terms of $$$$...

I'd agree there for the first time traveller, if you want to have a quick whiz around the tourist spots then its the way to go, especially if your travelling alone.

If you want to see more, then the only way to do it is the way I did, by camper van - go were you want, stay as long as you like anywhere, accomodation werever u go, transportation around the cities and food purchased from supermarkets make it surprisingly cheap way to do it!!

Personally I find the arranged tours too restrictive, I like freedom when I travel :)

Yeah, i expect all the islands to be fantastic in their own way. Ios seems to be the place we will be going, have read good reports on this island.

My mum is from Cyprus, Dad's parents from Athens. Don't think i'll have time to spend allot of time at those places though, Cyprus, won't get to at all. Not this trip anyway.
