Hey guys being a teenager, i get a lot of critism about what cars good and whats not. Im from a group of people, where im basically the only loyal ford fan, every likes holden. I always have stuck with ford, even known the lower model AUs werent much of a head turner (bar the XR series), falcons always had a soft spot in my heart. Constant bagging of ford, was on the agender everytime, me and my mates talked about cars. Some like jap imports including myself, i drive an FTO.
Since the release of BA photos the critism had actually stopped! Every holden friend of mine, dont talk about ford anymore! I bring up the topic how BA is not just an upgrade from the AU but its so different in many ways!
I let the biggest holden fan in my group look at motor magazine, how they were comparing the XR6T to the SS. He goes to me "you cant compare the SS to a turbo" i said fair enough, considering the price of the SS and Turbo, might be similar. I told him ok then how about the XU6 supercharged against the XR6. He shutup for a while then said that turbos are better than superchargers. I told him they bascially work in the same way, force air into the engine, but supercahrgers use the cranks etc, to spool up the charger, (tiny loss of power lost but more gained) turbos use exhuast gases. He then changed the subject again. I was having fun, i said fair enough, we'll compare the XR8 to the SS. He said fair enough. I said the XR8 is going to have a power output similar to an R8 or clubby! So its going to probably destroy the SS.
Well i am not really i biased person, competition just means holden and ford are going to try harder to build better cars. Its an advantage for us.
Im glad that ford have worked hard on the BA, not just changing the car cosmetically but mechanically as well. I can say im now very proud to be a ford fan, and will remain one for a long time coming.
Dude, the marketing strategy of the Holden Supercharged V6 was not the same as the XR6 Turbo. The GM supercharged V6 is more for luxury models, remember when it was only availble on Calais and Statesman. It's for Grandpa cars. You don't think Holden dont know how to crank up the blower to get more power? Heck they even detuned the motor (runs lower compression), and put on a low-blow supercharger. You can like any car you want to like, I wont try to convince you otherwise. But dont talk as if the car manufacturers are trying to work their engines to the best of their abilities, and don't make silly comparisions. (ie the EF XR8 @ 165kw vs the VY ClubSports @ 275kw, therefore Fords are crap and Holdens rock!!!)
So the XU6 is a grandpa car ?
I reckon GMH can't crank up the SC anymore, otherwise the Buick V6 will just fall to pieces.
And the Monaro CV6 is a grandpa car too eh ?!!
I'm pretty sure the Monaro is a sportsmodel.
It got absolutely thrashed by a N.A. Magna Ralli Art !!!
And the reason they "detuned" the engine for lower compression,
is to benefit the effect of the supercharger.
And why is a comparison between two force inducted 6 cillinder cars silly ? I don't think it's as silly as the magazines comparing Clubsports with XR8's !!!
Is it unfair because for once Ford will absolutely make mince meat out of it's logical competitors ??
Anyways, I strongly dissagree with your statement and I find it a
silly excuse for not comparing apples with apples.
Just my 2c.

Be sure to drop a line !
but you are not comparing apples with apples surely your comparing last model apples to new model apples so to speak in both case you compare older holden powertrain to the new ford power train
before making comments about destroying and etc I would hang off until some more vy info is produced
there is often comments about Holden Sheep sometimes I wonder though I cant wait till both manufacturers bring it on, Im sick of all the bs posts from both sides
damn i was drunk when i wrote that thread, i just got home from a clubbed, pissed off my head, couldnt sleep! Oh well. Totally aggree i shouldnt compared the Ba to the new commodore yet, untill official information is released.
EDFALCON Yes they are Grandpa cars, to a lesser degree than the Calais, Stateman and Buick LeSabre supercharged 3.8. The Monaro seems to be more of a cruiser than a Corvette. My dad's Grange is a grandpa car too, though I never said I didnt like it!!!
And yes, comapre VY to BA
