Yeah i would have said a trade in price of $35K and the dealer would put it on the yard at $40k
Very sad indeed:dead: :dead:
I got a 10k change over on mine and the dealer had $43990 on new car. You know my old car, excellent condition etc......certainly not the same upgrades as yours. I was going to do the same as you, but it just seemed a waste of money. I would have had to spend close to $5K to do what i wanted, so i just cut my losses and traded up.......i must say transmission was my main reason though.
I have also purchased a lot cars through this dealer as well as getting them sales through friends.
Still think you have a fantastic car and ceratinly my favourite on FF, it is everything i wanted to do!!!
Perhaps if it I put it this way. How much money would be reasonable for a dealer to make?
There is the margin that is built into the new car plus what ever the dealer can make on a trade. So what would be a fair price or amount that the dealer could be expected to make.
In the space of 3 years the money lost is about the cost of another new forte. Plain madness when you stop and think about it.
Originally posted by HP Dude Yeah mate, sorry to say that trade would be anywhere between 28k to 35k (if your lucky). Then they'd sell it for high $30's.
Both you and Rob have said the same thing and you are extremely close. In saying that it means that the dealers are making close to $4to 5k just on a trade not allowing for any margin built into a new car..
