I think I've had one of those moments when I wish I had a 'phone that took pictures. Such moments don't happen very often.

I work across the road from a Jaguar specialist, and I can currently see out my window: an early Mk2 3.4-litre with spats, an XJ40 Sovereign, a nice Series 3 XJ6 and a lovely maroon XK140 roadster. None of these 4 cars, not even the 2 old ones, really inspire me to take pictures of them, although they are very nice in an "Olde English" way.

Trouble is, a bloke turned up there a moment ago in a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL. In metallic grey (not quite silver) with Rudge knock-offs, blood-red leather interior. It looked immaculate and original, and it sounded glorious. He was only there for about a minute at most and I was too busy staring in disbelief. I've seen plenty of them in showrooms, and on stands at classic car rallies. But I've never seen one on the road until now.

Really, really special.

i went to safeway the otherday and parked next to the XE 2 door convertable i have been trying to get pics of for almost 8 months now......guess where the camera was.

And do you know the worst bit? Perhaps it's actually the best bit...

Another 300SL just edged out of the workshop! This one was dark green in colour. And then, as it was parked out front, up rumbles a Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona, also a dark green colour - it's the only Ferrari I lust after.

I think I need to lie down.
