i upgraded my P plate liscence to the Green P's today, and all i could think of when i finsihed the test was what a waste of money.
and it got me thinking where does all the revenue go? i just saw on the news that they where putting larger fines on traffic offences and im wondering the same thing, where does it go?
the roads are so shite around my town that i can see that ANY of this is spent on roads etc?
there are potholes with there own potholes, Everywhere, its shocking, youd think we could go to the shop with out fear of busting a rim or blowing a tyre.
With the money we give out in rgo and fuel u would think that the roads would be better,,,but i bet i know where it's going into the back pocket of some useless politician
I did some analysis a while ago for the projected upgrade of the pacific highway to a dual lane carriageway, think the government alotted a considerable sum of money - anyway for road works on a major freeway it turns out (on this project) to be $100 a metre.
Some roads are just plain shocking. When my family moved to Werribee (previously lived in Altona) we moved into a brand new estate. The council had this brainwave of planting big trees along the sides of the roads through the estate. 10 years on the trees have grown, they are not huge but are a decent sized tree, and now there are bumps across the road near every tree from the root system. Not so noticable when your in a stock car but when your car is lowered and has hard suspension it sucks, im always bouncing out of my seat!
Our council just spent HEAPS on fixing roads. About 6 streets near me got resurfaced last month, maybe they took some bad drugs? I better take pictures as I have NEVER seen such an event before in my entire life. Sure 1 street but SIX!?!?! LOL

My GF lives in Hoppers Crossing and I've started using the Princes Freeway regularly now. I've noticed even on that road the amount my stock EL XR6 gets pitched around by the dips and bumps at 100 km/h on that road. It's pretty poor for such a major road.
Fuel Excise started in the early 80's at 4c a litre to fund roads. Indexed and given one off increases by past governments it's now 10 times that, yet about 15% of it actually goes into roads nowadays. The government talks about a "user pays" funding system - ie tolls, yet we've paid for these roads over and over again
