Why wait, XR8

This has probably been covered ,sorry , but what is the official reason for the delay of the XR8 launch? I would of thought that it would of been in fords best intereests to realease it at the same time as the XR6 and the VY SS, i mean if you cant drive an XR8 how are you supposed to be impressed by one, and what s to stop you buying the previously mentioned models? Three months is along wait for it, i beleive that ford will lose some xr8 sales to the xr6 and the ss by it not being available. If its not here to wow us now and the other two are people might get itchy feet and opt not to wait.

It was because they were slower than they were expecting with the BOSS260 development.

As GP explained it during the raid, they knew they were stretched thin with the engineering required to complete all of the BA. So rather than stretch their resources thinly and stuff something up, then placed it on the volume selling part of the range firt, and then shiofted the focus across to the other models later so resources wouldn't be stretched thin and they could get everything spot on.

i dont think its a big deal not many people just buy a car willy nilly
it takes some planning, so they may lose a few sales a lot of us people do have patience and will be rewarded in the end.
But you should allready know that xr8 isnt going to fail, like you hope it too

the 5.4 is a new era for v8s in aus and yes its a ford motor thank god and now holden is playing catch up this motor will own the 5.7

XR8 delays have been caused by engine supply issues.

High volume deliveries (in production quantities) don't start until November and as a consequence production of XR8 for customer delivery cannot start until December(ish).

No grand conspirascy theories at all!!!

I wasnt talking conspiracy theories just curious as to why? All the explanations so far seem fair enough.

"holden is playing catch up this motor will own the 5.7"

Bring it on.

My friend's friend works at Ford and he said that the BOSS 260 engine has so much torque that it's twisting the chassis.

I don't believe this to be true though.

Not this debate again, can someone show me where this law is written " for an engine to be good it must have OHC" because i cant find it anywhere? but your right about one thing its not worth arguing over.
