Why is it that the XR8 is not going to be available till 2003 and already the ads are everywhere, i have already seen Vy SS commodores on the road so all those people who couldnt be bothered waiting will go out and buy commondores instead, no wonder ford are constantly behind the eight ball... i am completely loyal to ford but they continue to make horrible decisions at the worst of times. what does everyone else think?

I'd rather Ford take the time to test their car properly, especially considering it is a much bigger technological leap relative to its predecessor than the VY SS is compared to VX II.

There were ads (of sorts) around before the BA's release too.

i agree they should be testing, but couldnt they have started three months earlier so they could atleast be out at the same time as the SS.... ford will be behind again..... atleast in sales which is really all that matters to a business....

I think you will find that with such a lot riding on the BA that it was better to do the things a bit slower..and do them right... we dont want another EA disaster .. lots of technical steps forward...but poorly executed..

Allows a few XR6 turbo to sell first before the XR8 is released!

As has been discussed before, we were told on the raid that BA was such a big job engineering wise that ford could not get it all done at once, so made the decision to get the bread and butter models right first before starting work on some of the higher end cars that do not sell in the same volume. They wanted to get everything right even if it meant delaying something rather than rushing to get it all ready in september and stuffing something up.

I think fORD is trying to get as much hype on the XR6 Turbo. If they release the new XR8 now the XR6 T will be forgoten.

Holden just put a few new panels and a new exhaust on the SS. Obviously this can be done quicker than a whole range of new and (for Australia) innovative engines/suspension etc

I smell a marketing strategy. Ford very successfully built the anticipation of the Barra release, and now they're doing the same with the XR8. The XR8 ute add is a teaser in a different guise.

I guess we can expect the XR8 to be something special. I just can't wait!
