mad Why Won't They Listen to Us????? Performance Wagons...

Look, we've had this discussion many times but let's look at the situation right now.

Ford ditched the wagon as a decent product a long time ago. It's got cart springs, has only the 182 HAD engine, and no sports version whatsoever. We held our breath with hopes that Territory would give some performance/practicality mix. Then Ford did the '1982 Maneouvre' (TM) and said no V8s in Territory.

So Ford says basically no to V8s and performance wagon products.

Holden took the punt and launched a limited run of 500 VY Commodore SS Wagons. Well, just after release my local dealers have no more stock.

Who says these things don't sell????????

Stay tuned for this to become a not-so-limited run and in more colours than black and red.

Apparently a V8 Territory will eventually make it to the showrooms.

I agree AP! I beleive that Ford should return a performance wagon. It will give the family(man?) a bit more to play with plus giving them the ability to haul more cargo because of it's size. Something like the XR6 or XR8 wagon versions that we had a while back. It's a real pitty they ditched them. It'll only be a matter of time before they realise what the hell they're doing to themselves.

I like the wording of that! But, gettinh back to the issue at hand, I beleive that V8s should be an option across the WHOLE board, no matter what damn model it is. Sure, there may be some installation issues BUT if I am willing to pay a bit more for that much power then what the hell is their problem? And the wonder why...

Re: Why Won't They Listen to Us????? Performance Wagons...

How much would it take for Ford to release a limited run of XR6T and V8 wagons?

Not much I would assume, the XR's are now made in the factory with the base models.

How about it Uncle Geoff???????????

Considering they can make the go-kart suspension handle 290kw, a XR8 shouldn't be to hard to develop.

"It will give the family(man?)"

Which begs the question are the Falcon and Commodore still the familyman car.

It seems which each new model the price rises, are they becoming out of reach price wise of the familyman.

I wonder how well a povety pack (tm) Falcon would sell, say no power windows no aircon, no luxury items so to speak priced at around 25K.

I would like to think it is on the 'drawing board' too but where will the capacity come from to produce these in the short-term?
