I was looking at the spec sheet of the XR6T and the XR8. And it seems that apart from the engine and the bonnet buldge there is no diffence to specs.

If the XR8 costs around the $52k mark and we know the XR6T is $44k, then it cost an additional $8k for an engine. I doubt that a 260 Boss engine would cost $13k ($8k difference + approximate cost of a XR6T engine + turbo)


Maybe Ford's pricing for the XR8 will suprise.

What do people think? Is there anything im missing?

I'm not sure but hasen't the XR8 always been around $8,000 more than the XR6?

I just checked the Ford website for prices. It still has AU prices! Anyway retail price for XR6HP was $36310, XR6VCT $40230 and XR8 $49145. Which is $8915 above the the VCT.

So I am sorry to say it looks like the price will be around $52k

plus xr8 has a tremec 5spd manual
xr6 turbo uses a t5(modified)

Not to mention the fact that regardless of what you bolt onto a six to give it V8 performance, for the purists, there is just no replacement for a bent 8. So they can justify the extra dollars.

There is certainly nothing like the roar of a V8, and I will guarantee you they will keep thumping along long after the Turbo has given up the ghost and taken most of the engine internals with it.

I think people will, as they have done for many years, pay the extra just to have the V8. Yes, the XR6T is quick and a really good engine, but it's still 'just a six'.

The after market potential for the V8 (as with the turbo) is also yet to be seen. Looking at the specs of these new engines, i would say it would be huge. Imagine, a slight increase in capacity, say 5.8 or so, and some forced induction. Potentially Viper territory there.

I think you will find that the AU XR8 has a few other goodies that the XR6 doesnt have ie IRS

XR6s came in irs as well as beam axle

XR8 Couple

All BA falcons has IRS, its just that they have different settings.
