Im getting my windows tinted next week on my ED and was wondering what people think of going darker than legal. In NSW 35% is the legal limit. I have a choice of 5% , 20% , 28% (didnt even know they made a 28% before today) and finally 35%.
There is no way i would go for 5% or even 20% but whats peoples opinion on 28%? Will i get hassled by cops and insurance with this shade? I was told that because my car was built before the date the law was introduced , i can actually have the tint as dark as i like..........is this crap?
How dark do some of you guys have your tints?
Cheers
James

it is crap yes...if your car was tinted BEFORE this date then its ok. insurance wont touch it and the cops may not notice for ages but they eventually will and put one of those great yellow stickers on your windscreen. however any other windows EXCEPT for your windscreen and front 2 windows CAN be any darkness you desire, just may look a little odd seeing the car from the side though. try asking to see a sample of some silver tint instead of the usual black...you might be surprised.

I went for 15% on my '93 EB and love it. My neighbour is a copper and he's never asked me about it (i'm not friends with him either), also i've never been questioned on it out on the road. I guess it comes down to if you dont do stupid things and dont draw attention to yourself they'll leave you alone.
35% is dark enough for me but that's just my opinion, you dont want to go to dark it can be dangerous when driving at night as well, it's not worth the hastle to go illegal.

i had 35% on my AU and seriously when you sit in the car you can hardly notice its there...i mean it looks darker from the outside than it does the inside.
