Statistics to Worry About

Everyone should be aware of the following Statistics:

a. The number of physicians in the US is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (US Dept. of Health &
Human services)

Then think about this:

a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is
1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is ..0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous
than gun owners.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE
DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors
before this gets out of hand.

As a public service I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear
that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention.

Don't be too quick to knock the doctors. The term "accidental death" is quite flexible I would imagine. Often a docot must make a decison based on the information he has available. Sometimes its not clear, and its the best guess. If hindsight proves that another diagnosis was better, even if implausible with the information at the time, should that be an "accidental death"

The same statistical slights of hand used to justify speed inforcement are rife in other areas as well. Always question what you are told, and the source of your information

yikes and i just came back from the GP...apparently i think it was in 2001 america had 11500 gun related deaths. This is compared with an average of 85 everywhere else around the world. I recommend people watch the movie bowling for columbine!! good flick..
